How Much Does It Cost to Use Toggl Track?

Toggl Track offers four pricing tiers: Free, Starter, Premium, and Enterprise, with each tier offering different features and capabilities. Paid plans start at $9 per user per month and increase with each tier, as detailed below:

Free This plan is free for up to five users and provides basic time tracking and reporting features.
Starter Geared towards small teams and priced at $9/user/month billed annually or $10/user/month billed monthly. Includes billable rates, saved reports, and basic project management features.
Premium Targeted towards larger teams and priced at a hefty $18/user/month annually or $20/user/month billed monthly. Offers additional features such as reminders, audits, and advanced project management capabilities.
Enterprise This plan’s pricing varies depending on team size and specific requirements. Provides a tailored experience for multiple teams and priority support.

5 Things You Need to Know About  Toggl Track’s Pricing

1. Toggl Track is transparent when it comes to pricing.

There are no hidden fees associated with Toggl Track, as the pricing and available features are clearly outlined on their website. The only fees that users will incur are the monthly subscription fees for their chosen paid plans.

Taxes aren’t exactly specified on the pricing page, which could affect the final cost depending on the user’s location. It’s worth checking with Toggl’s support or reviewing local tax regulations to avoid surprises.

2. Only a limited number of users can avail the free plan.

Toggl Track has a pretty generous free plan which includes features like:

  • Unlimited time tracking, projects, clients, and tags
  • Export time-tracking data in a report format for billing and analysis
  • Access to Toggl Track’s web app, mobile apps and desktop apps
  • Automated time tracking triggers and idle time detection
  • Pomodoro timer
  • CSV imports
  • Personal desktop activity tracking
  • Compatibility with over 100 popular apps

While these features are great, it’s important to note that the free plan is only available for up to 5 users! So safe to say, the free plan is impressive, but only caters to small businesses.

For businesses with more than 5 users, Toggl Track offers advanced plans, for a slightly higher price of course.

3. Not all of Toggl’s paid features can be tested out for free.

This is true for most time tracking software. Features like billable rates, timesheet approvals, project forecasts, and advanced reporting tools are only accessible with a paid plan. If you need in-depth insights, automation, or integrations with tools like Jira and Salesforce, you’ll need to upgrade to a higher-tier plan.

4. Toggl Track has a no-refund policy.

Toggl Track does not require contracts or long-term commitments, which is a positive feature for many users. The downside is that they don’t offer refunds either.

The only instance when refunds can be issued is if a system error caused the charge, other than that you’re out of luck. This is why it’s important to make full use of Toggl’s free trial period or free plan so you can test out the software before making any commitment.

5. You can cancel or change plans at any time.

Toggl Track gives users the flexibility to cancel or change their plans anytime, making it a great option for businesses with evolving needs or budgets.

If you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your billing cycle, with the exact date shown in the “My Plan” section. This ensures you can continue using the service without unexpected disruptions.

Is Toggl Track Worth It?

Well, it really depends on what you’re looking for.

Toggl Track excels at basic, simple time tracking, making it a solid choice for teams who need straightforward time management without the clutter of extra features. It offers reliable tracking, insightful reports, and useful integrations with other tools. Its Pomodoro timer is a nice touch for boosting focus.

I go into greater detail into Toggl’s features and pros and cons in our Honest Review of Toggl Track. But price-wise, Toggl is definitely one of the pricier time tracking options in the market.

If you’re part of a small team or solo, Toggl’s free plan could be a good fit. But if you need more advanced features or want to save money, it might be worth exploring other options that are more cost-effective and offer similar, or even more powerful, features.
