How do I track time in Trello?

Accurate time tracking is essential for staying organized and on top of your tasks in Trello. Whether you’re coordinating projects, working with a team, or managing assignments, keeping track of your time is critical. Jibble’s Chrome time tracking extension allows you to seamlessly incorporate time tracking into your Trello activities.

Installing Jibble’s Chrome Extension

  1. You can install the Jibble extension through the following steps:
    1. Via the Jibble Web App:
      • Log in to your Jibble account and find the “Get the app” button on your dashboard.

      • When prompted, select “Chrome Extension” to be redirected to the Chrome Web Store.

    2. Directly from the Chrome Web Store:
  2. Click “Add to Chrome” to install the extension.

  3. After the installation, an icon will appear in your browser’s toolbar.
  4. To access the extension, click the puzzle piece icon in the top right corner of your Chrome toolbar.
  5. Pin the Jibble Time Tracker by clicking the pin icon next to it for easy access while working with Trello.

  1. Log in to your Trello account.
  2. Click the Jibble icon in your Chrome toolbar.
  3. Sign in to your Jibble account or create one if you don’t already have it.
  4. Click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the extension.
  5. Select Integrations.

Tracking time in Trello

With the extension set up, you can now track your time for tasks in Trello. Follow these steps to track time directly within Trello:

  • Using the Jibble Timer in Trello
  1. Open Trello and go to the board containing the task you want to track time for.
  2. In the board view, you will find an orange play button in each card.
  3. Hover over a card, where you’ll see a “Jibble in” button.Jibble in button in Trello
  4. Click the play button or “Jibble in” button to begin tracking time.
  5. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to select an activity and project.
  6. Notes will be automatically filled in based on the card titles in Trello.

  • Using keyboard shortcuts
  1. Click on the Jibble icon in your Chrome toolbar.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner and select Settings.
  3. Enable the toggle for Keyboard Shortcuts.

  4. Once enabled, use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Command+Shift+S on Mac to clock in.
  5. To clock out, use the same shortcut.

Note: When using keyboard shortcuts, the previously used activity and project (if applicable) will be applied, and no additional notes are needed.


  • Using right clicks

Note: When using right-click for clocking in or out, the previously used activity and project (if applicable) will be applied, and no notes are required.


  • Using text highlighting

  2. Right-click on the highlighted text and select Jibble from the menu.
  3. The clock-in screen will appear with the highlighted text automatically included as notes.
